You Are Beautiful

Divine-Universe-smallerIn the movie ‘Contact’ Jodie Foster’s character catches her first glimpse of the spectacular cosmos and she is spellbound and can barely utter “Beautiful… so beautiful… should’ve… sent… a poet.”

In sharing this title today, I am referring to that kind of beautiful, not an external beauty our society often attributes to tall slim women. Rather, I am using this phrase in reference to all my brothers and sisters: men, women, and children of all shapes, sizes, and colours. You Are Beautiful.

Luke 12:7 posterI recently took an evening class that a wise woman friend of mine put on. At one point she was explaining how beloved we are by God, and she said, “You are more loved than you can realize. It’s as if God has pictures of you all over His fridge!”

We laughed and her charming description touched my heart. It’s a whimsical way to help us realize how much we matter to our Creator. We are important and we are beautiful to Him. Like the glorious beauty we see in the cosmos.

  2. Constructive criticism is good, how else would we know our failings. Hurtful unjustified remarks should be brushed aside like flies at a picnic. I like your advice remove yourself from an unhappy relationship.

    1. Well put! Constructive criticism helps us get even better, especially when delivered in a ‘love sandwich’ (between two kind observances) but hurtful remarks should definitely be brushed off like flies or ants at a picnic (I love that!). Thank you for sharing this uplifting comment.

      1. When dealing with criticism treat it like a gift you can accept it or let it remain with the giver. The choice is yours to consider. I do not remember where I read this wisdom but I do know it works for me. Pleases if it can be of use to others.
